My pets are very special to me. Going on vacation was always
stressful. I worry about them.

Though I still worry about them, I know they are getting great care.
My beagle loves her and wants to go home with her. My cats don’t hide
from her. I can tell by the way they interact with her that they are

As a starting point, Lisa Nichols is a kind and generous person who
displays gentle and perhaps idiosyncratic methods in her interactions
with parrots. Also, patience, thoroughness and acceptance are
evident, while any notes of dominance, force, coercion or intolerance
are mercifully absent. Simply stated, Lisa has a way with birds.
Diet, cage placement, toys, interaction, and other pieces of the
environment are taken into consideration. In some instances, health
issues may need to be addressed. Human clients will come away with a
better understanding of the parrots’ point of view, if the person is
open to such possibility.
Word of warning… make sure your parrots don’t follow Lisa when she
leaves–they might try! Don’t worry tho’ she won’t take them…

Lisa Nichols has been a volunteer with our organization for the past three years. She is a hard worker and has a tremendous compassion for all animals but especially the birds. Lisa is kind and gentle and has tremendous knowledge about caring and protecting birds. We highly recommend Lisa as a care giver to anyone who has any type of pet but especially birds. Lisa is very good with birds. We have a lot, mostly Moluccan Cockatoos, and they can be demanding and unpredictable. She shows no fear of them and always talks calmly and reassuringly when interacting with the birds. I had her help me clean the bird room, which took about 12 hours to do a really thorough job. She did whatever needed to be done and more. She was a great help to me. I highly recommend her if you are considering a pet sitter.

Lisa, We wanted to let you know how much we appreciate your special care to our animals that you always give. It has made traveling much less stressful. I know what a great job you do with them because how they act when I get home. Usually when I would go away and return they were overexcited upon my return, almost desperate at my return. Now when I return they are happy to see me the same as if I had only been gone to work. It is also hard in these times to find someone that you can permanently give your house to and not have to be worried about security between trips. Just being able to pack and leave town and know after a text to you that it is all handled is worth so much to us. Thank you for all your care!!

Lisa is so loving and extremely knowledgeable about parrots! She has great insights and has taught us a few tips as we care for our Eclectus Parrot. She has cared for our Parrot for extended periods of time when we were traveling. It was like Summer camp for birds! She texted us updates and pics to let us know how Sage was adjusting and faring. We will be trusting her with precious Sage again this Summer as we travel. We know that she is in loving, good hands

I have a 34 year old male Blue Fronted Amazon that was bred in captivity. We got him from Glen Burnie, MD when he was a tiny chick. He has been the only parrot in our household ever since. Now that my 4 children are grown, he is very attached to me. Unfortunately, he is not that friendly towards other people. He is a good talker and also screams loudly.
The first time I needed boarding for my bird Kalle was summer 2016. I found Lisa the Bird Lady online. We exchanged information by texting and emailing. Kalle’s first stay with Lisa was 3 weeks. I was impressed with the care. There were 7-8 big parrots in the same room in individual cages. The room was clean, cages were clean and Lisa was very helpful. I have since taken Kalle to boarding with Lisa several times. My feeling is that my bird is happy to stay there because he has company. Previously when he stayed at home I had a friend come to give water and food. Kalle let me have it by screaming excessively when I returned from my trips. Now that he is accustomed to Lisa’s care, he comes home, enters the cage and very peacefully carries on his parrot activities. There is no drama.
In summary, I am a very happy customer in Lisa’s care. Everything runs smoothly and everything is clean. I highly recommend her services as a parrot caretaker.
